The Blessed Life | Bible Study Methods
Jesus said "You search the Scriptures because you believe that they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to Me! Yet you refuse to come to Me so that I can give you this eternal life." (John 5:39-40 NLT)
Studying, memorizing, and mastering the Bible is a good goal, but not the best... Jesus told the people of his day that the Scriptures WERE NOT te source of eternal life - He WAS!
The Bible is important because we encounter Jesus through the Word of God, which bears witness to Jesus, God the Word who came in flesh. (John 1:14) At the same time, other believers are important in meeting our goal to encounter Christ and understand His word, because God's word has said, "As iron sharpens iron, so one friend sharpens another." (Prov 27:17)
The goal of adult small groups is to encounter the Word behind the word - Jesus Christ - together with other Christians. Therefore, every adult small group is based in Scripture and on fellowship with the purpose of knowing Jesus and others better through it. Throughout the year LOCC offers three levels of adult small groups:
Core Groups : Selective Groups : Elective Groups
Core
Groups:
Offered on a yearly basis and we stronly encourage everyone who considers
Live Oaks their church home to attend each as they grow in fellowship
with our church family.
Pastors Class Dessert
This is a great introduction to our church and an opportunity to meet others, as well as, ask questions.What We Believe
You live what you believe - every day your choices reveal your real values and beliefs. Therefore, "What do you believe?" This group participants build a biblical framework for your beliefs in God, His world, yourself, and the relationship between them.
Selective
Groups
Groups with church-wide appeal that are offered once a year. These groups
include:
Financial Peace University, Bible Study Practices That Work, and Discover Your Spiritual Gifts
Elective
Groups
These address age, gender, or need-specific issues and are taught as topical
or Bible book study. They may or may not be offered once a year. Recent
examples include:
Beth Moore studies for women, Purpose Driven Life, Basketball in the park, Everyman's Marriage for Men, Friendship First for Youth, and Drum Circle

If you would like to facilitate a small group or assist in one
- pick up, fill out and hand in to Pastor Kelley the "Facilitator
Application" no later than Sunday, August 27th. Please plan to be
a partner and participant in one of our upcoming groups.
