In Genesis 2:18, God our Creator said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.  I will make a helper suitable for him.” (NIV)  Next, in Proverbs 27:17, King Solomon, a man considered to be one of the wisest men who ever lived stated, “As iron sharpens iron, so one friend sharpens another.”(NLT)  Finally, modern science agrees that human beings develop to be whole and healthy within healthy relationships with other people.

In small groups a larger church is broken down into smaller gatherings where individuals can be known and get to know others, where spiritual questions can be asked and answered, where needs can be revealed and met, where Christians and those grappling with the claims of Christ can grow in God’s love and their knowledge of His word, where participants can learn to serve one another and Christians can develop their spiritual gifts, and where contagious disciples can be made who have a heart to impact those inside their church as well as those still outside of God’s family.
